"Frosting the Falls"

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow gave Minneapolis' Minnehaha Falls national fame though his 1853 epic poem, "The Song of Hiawatha", but he never saw the 53-foot falls firsthand. Winter's snow and ice have spread a liberal frosting around the falls in this shot, but a trickle of Minnehaha Creek splashes through an opening in the ice.
